On November 30, volunteers from Doosan Infracore distributed kimchi to needy families at a Korean Red Cross event in Jongno-gu, Seoul as part of the 2011 DI Volunteer Day. The company will hold similar events in Incheon, the Institute of Technology, Gunsan, and Changwon, jointly with the Korean Red Cross. DI Volunteer Day is the name of a social contribution activity carried out by the company and will be officially announced on the company’s anniversary in 2012.
At the event held in Seoul, 45 volunteers from Doosan Infracore and those from the Korean Red Cross made 1,250 cabbages worth of kimchi. Spirits were high as the volunteers, in hygienic caps, aprons, and long sleeve rubber gloves, were busy seasoning the cabbages. The cabbages were packed in boxes and delivered to needy families in Jongno-gu and Jung-gu, Seoul. The volunteers were pleased with the work they had done. Jinik Park of the Finance & Administration Office HR Team, for one, said, “I am glad I can do something for others. It’s good to volunteer through the company.”
Participants in the event included Company President Ogyoo Lee; Senior Managing Director Byeongju Kim; and Managing Directors Gwono Nam and Siyeong Yang. Before starting the event, Lee said, “We would like to show our genuine corporate value through continued social contribution activities and paying attention to matters related to children, who are the real engines of our country’s future growth, and the local community.”
Korean Red Cross Secretary General Hagyeong Choi said, “I feel grateful to Doosan Infracore for providing support for our activities, providing food to senior citizens with no family members and children from needy families.”
The DI Volunteer Day event was also held in Incheon (Dec. 1), the Institute of Technology (Dec.1), and will be held in Gunsan (Dec. 5), and Changwon (Dec. 7). 400-plus employees will take part in the events making more than 6,000 cabbages worth of kimchi. The kimchi will be delivered to needy families living in each region.
