Doosan Infracore to Supply Dozens of Excavators to Inner Mongolia, China

Doosan Infracore signed a sales contract for 36 large excavators, including the giant DX800, with the Mengxin Group, one of China’s largest mining companies.

On 22 January 2019, Doosan Infracore announced that it had signed a significant excavator supply contract with Mengxin Coal Co., Ltd. (hereinafter the Mengxin Group), a leading coal mining company in Inner Mongolia, China.

Under this deal Doosan Infracore will supply thirty-six Doosan excavators, including six 80-ton heavy excavators (DX800), twenty 52-ton excavators (DX520) and ten 38-ton excavators (DX380), to the Mengxin Group, which will assign them to its coal mines in Inner Mongolia.

Renowned for diverse mining operations, the Mengxin Group is a large corporate customer that currently operates more than a hundred large excavators and thirty wheel loaders in its four coal mines, producing about twenty million tons of coal per year. Having used other companies’ products for many years, the Mengxin Group fully tested Doosan Infracore’s equipment before making its final purchase decision. During a two-month trial period, the Group carefully checked the outstanding performance of Doosan Infracore’s equipment, including its fuel efficiency, as well as the efficacy of DoosanCARE™, its unrivaled service program.

After expanding its presence in the Chinese market largely through its competitiveness in compact to mid-sized excavators (smaller than 30-ton excavators), Doosan Infracore has worked hard to enhance the competitiveness of its large excavator lineup. As a result of such efforts, Doosan Infracore increased its sales proportion of mid- to large-sized excavators from 35% to 40% between 2017 and 2018 (based on the running total as of the end of the third quarter). Notably, its flagship 80-ton giant excavator been highly praised in the global market for its cutting-edge technological features, with demand for the product rising continuously since its launch in 2017.

An official of Doosan Infracore said, “This supply contract is significant in that Doosan Infracore has secured a leading company in the Chinese mining industry as one of its customers by signing a strategic partnership aimed at achieving a win-win situation.” He went on to say, “The deal is expected to have a positive impact on our sales efforts with other large firms in China, and to play a key role in increasing our sales records in the market for the rest of the year.”
