Doosan Infracore invests in the self-driving startup PoteNit

Doosan Infracore announced on April 12 that it has signed an investment agreement with the startup PoteNit, a self-driving system development venture firm equipped with the best technology in South Korea.

In recent months, Doosan Infracore has been pushing to invest both directly and indirectly in new technologies and businesses related with the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In particular, the company is striving to secure unmanned and automated construction machine technologies for construction and mining worksites and to explore such solutions.

Doosan Infracore’s decision to make this investment stems from its belief that AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot), a self-driving technology that functions without using guide devices, holds great business potential, having already assessed its market potential in the logistical and manufacturing fields. PoteNit has already commercialized self-driving logistical robots using its advanced technology.

“With this investment, we will improve the unmanning automation technology that we’ve been developing together with PoteNit since 2015. We will expand the technology into areas other than construction machinery,” announced an executive of Doosan Infracore. “We will expand our investment in the Fourth Industrial Revolution-related startups, so we will explore opportunities to grow our existing business and to develop new business areas. At the same time, we aim to use our global operation networks to support the startups’ entry into overseas markets.”
