In 2017, Doosan Infracore emerged as the leader in Nepal's construction equipment market, with its market share soaring to around 20%.
Doosan Infracore's market share in Nepal has skyrocketed just in two years, rising from 5% in 2015 to around 20% as of the end of 2017, largely due to the company's efforts to enhance its sales capabilities in the country, as shown by its successful bid for a contract to supply mid- and full-size excavators for the Likyu Hydropower Project in northern Nepal in October 2017.
Since 2015, Nepal has attracted a huge amount of overseas funds for its infrastructure construction projects. The country's demand for construction equipment increased from around 100 machines in 2015 to more than 1,400 in 2017, making it one of the fastest growing construction equipment markets in the region.
An offical from Doosan Infracore said, "As of the end of the third quarter of 2017, our company's construction equipment sales in emerging markets such as Nepal, Hong Kong and Malaysia rose by 20% in 2017 over the same period of the previous year." He went on to say, "Our company's construction equipment sales also increased in the Middle East and Latin America in 2017, reversing the trend of weak sales, with the prospects for 2018 onward looking even more positive.
